This is a career that is second to none and has provided me experiences that I will never forget. I was on the first wave of Troopers that responded to the World Trade Center attack in NYC and to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. I have met people from all walks of life including the President of the United States. You never know what each day will bring. Not everyone has what it takes to be a New York State Trooper because it requires discipline, dedication and lots of hard work. If you make it, you will experience a tremendous sense pride and accomplishment. We will give you the opportunity but the rest is up to you. Do you have what it takes?
ATTENTION Candidates who have received a recent invitation to report to the Academy for further processing on September 13-14th, 2008 are eligible to attend a voluntary Candidate Processing Orientation being held on September 4th, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the Troop E Headquarters, 1569 Rochester Rd Canandaigua, NY 14425. This orientation seminar is designed to give you a heads up on what to expect when you report on September 13TH, review the Physical Assessment standards and provide you an opportunity to ask questions that you might have. PARTICIPATION AT THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY VOLUNTARY AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND THIS EVENT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR REPORTING TO THE STATE POLICE ACADEMY ON SEPTEMBER 13TH. If you wish to attend, please email me at erecruit@troopers.state.ny.us to reserve a seat for the September 4th event. Seating is limited and will be reserved in order of reservations requests received. The deadline to apply for the 2008 entrance examination for the position of New York State Trooper was December 1, 2007. Testing was conducted in January and February, 2008 at numerous locations throughout New York State and ended February 9th. The eligibility list for this exam can last up to four (4) years. We do not anticipate conducting another exam in the near future. However, we do offer a variety of non-sworn employment opportunities, with continuous job postings on this site.
