My duties have taken me from a murder investigation in the Adirondack Mountains to a call to duty at Ground Zero and the World Trade Center disaster. A voluntary Candidate Processing Orientation will be held at NYSP Ray Brook, Troop "B" Headquarters, #1097 St-86, Box 100, Ray Brook, N.Y. 12977 on Sept. 9th, 2008 at 7:00pm.

This orientation seminar is designed to give the candidate an awareness of what to expect when he/she reports to the New York State Police Academy for the first phase of processing on September 13th and 14th, 2008 as describe by the letter they recently received in the mail. Only those candidates who have received this letter are eligible to attend this seminar at this time.

Participation at this seminar is strictly voluntary and you do NOT need to attend this event to be eligible for reporting to the State Police Academy on September 13, 2008. The deadline to apply for the 2008 entrance examination for the position of New York State Trooper was December 1, 2007. Testing was conducted in January and February, 2008 at numerous locations throughout New York State and ended February 9th. The eligibility list for this exam can last up to four (4) years. We do not anticipate conducting another exam in the near future.
